Статтю присвячено аналізу змін, які впродовж останніх десятиліть відбуваються в академічному середовищі. Зміни у повсякденному житті, стрімкий розвиток інформаційних та комунікаційних технологій, поява нового, «цифрового» покоління молоді – усі ці та інші фактори та виклики інтенсифікують трансформаційні процеси. При цьому не заперечується цінність сталої академічної традиції, ключове місце у якій посідають соціально-гуманітарні дисципліни, адже саме вони закладають фундаментальні основи людської культури та відіграють провідну роль у процесах соціалізації особистості. У цьому контексті зростає роль Національної академії педагогічних наук Україні як головної інституції нашої країни, на яку покладається місія теоретико-методологічного супроводу процесів викладання та навчання, і яка також повинна давати якісні відповіді на численні виклики сучасності.
